Online Engagement

Online meetings need particular skills to be successful and productive. We’ve created a rigorous online meeting process that ensures people engage, contribute and get heightened value, even when working remotely.

While technology has progressed hugely in the past ten years, distracted participants and lack of focus continues to be a big problem.

We enhance team-wide conference calls or web-based interactions using an approach we call "realise radio". Structured much like a pragmatically planned radio show, presenters are interviewed; participants ask questions, debate issues, reach conclusions and agree actions.

Based on a firm understanding of the business objectives for the virtual meeting, we build-in interactivity and opportunities for dialogue to ensure that participants can contribute, much as they would in one of our face to face meetings. Key features of our virtual meetings include:

  • Presenters & guest speakers, interview format, all briefed to accept and respond to input from virtual participants.
  • Creating a feeling of involvement by embedding interactivity and challenges into the process.
  • Keeping meetings short and focused. A well planned hour-long meeting can easily achieve more than a badly planned half day face to face meeting.
  • Ensuring that virtual meetings are a component part of a communication strategy that also includes face-to-face meetings to support the essential task and relationship building processes.
  • Meeting report/minutes circulated immediately: actions, agreements, expectations, timelines and commitments become visible without delay.

Because the entire session is recorded through the technology and in audio format, including all the online interaction, we’re normally able to collate and circulate draft report within a few hours. Questions and comments not addressed during the broadcast are addressed by the presenters immediately so responses can be included in the report.

realise has a clear understanding of how to drive the technology and support a collaborative team dynamic. People are fed up with hours of one-way presentation. It gives us a richer experience and the opportunity to go deeper, hear new perspectives, and that's the key.
