Hot debrief and learning reviews

Operational learning reviews

Successful operational reviews rely on clear, open and timely debrief and disclosure from those who were involved. We work with police forces, military groups, and clinical teams to provide:

  • Hot Debriefs - immediate, short and precise
  • Learning reviews – in-depth reviews of national/major operations

By combining our facilitation expertise with Group Engagement tools, we can ensure that the learning reviews are fast paced and efficient. Asking the right key questions helps to reveals and reframes the experience of those who were part of the operation; not just those who led it.

Our Hot Debrief and Learning Review sessions reduce the rank and hierarchy barriers that can restrict people from disclosing experiences and revealing issues that arose. We have seen the all-too-common result of traditional reviews where participants are not completely forthcoming about what happened 'on the ground'.

We avoid assigning blame and this allows for a clearer view of the issues that teams and the organisation should be addressing.

A realise supported session answers many of our clients needs such as:

  • encouraging people to see debriefs and reviews positively
  • being time efficient and incorporating roster patterns
  • securing people’s willingness to contribute, every time.

After the session, a full and instant report of the whole session is created. Available in compatible formats, these can be instantly communicated and integrated into knowledge management processes and systems.

Making the learning live beyond the debrief report often means addressing issues of team and organisational change. Our Change Capability services offer ways to sustain momentum post review and tackle some of the potential root causes that may have been revealed during learning reviews.
